There’s a huge industry out there. They want to sell you everything you can imagine about sales and marketing. Now if you’re like me, you agree that sales and marketing is the foundation of your business. While it’s important to deliver a great product, you’ll never get to that stage without effective sales and marketing.
What these gurus don’t want you to know is that good selling and marketing isn’t as hard as they’d have you believe. All you need to do is find the mutual interest between you and your prospect. If you can find a way to make them better while you make yourself better, then your product sells itself. There’s no need to have fancy sales and marketing, an advanced website, the best paid traffic in the world, or even sales training to accomplish “the perfect close.”
All you need to find is that win-win. Once you find it, you won’t have to worry about hours, days, or weeks of research and trial-and-error of your marketing or sales pitch.
Call it mutual interest. Call it the win-win. Call it making your customers better, while making yourself better. Call it product-market fit.
Whatever you want to call it, your essential challenge is to find the win-win. That’s your most important work.
